“No Mortgage” iPhone App

The Finance Jerk is pleased to announce that “No Mortgage” the iPhone app is now available on the app store.  The app is all about showing you how extra payments on your mortgage add up, save you interest, and get you debt free sooner.  The graphs are pretty rad.  The flexibility of early payments is great too.  I use this to track my own mortgage payments.  Every month, I add a payment, I see what happens if I add a little more extra money and see how many months short I can cut my mortgage.

Naturally, all proceeds from the $0.99 app go to retiring my mortgage and then maybe to some other selfish cause.

I’m pretty committed to this app and I’ve already been working on updates that should hit in November.  The app will be enhanced for the iPad shortly as well.

I hope this app helps you as well!

If you have any issues with this app, please comment in the discussion below.  I will work to resolve any issues you have.  Thanks!

Can you please add the ability to pick more terms for mortgages? For instance, I have a 25 year mortgage, but I cannot select that option on this app. Thank you.

Absolutely. Will submit a release to Apple right now with that. Sorry that its not in there now. Anything else?

      • Kevin

Thank you very much! The only other things I would change would be to have it sync between your iPad and iPhone so that you don’t have to enter the same information twice. Thanks for responding so quickly. Great app by the way!

I’ll enable iCloud in the next release. That way you can sync between. The 25 years is now at Apple for review. Usually takes them a week to approve. Then you’ll see notification for update. I’ll try to get iCloud support by March. Should be pretty easy.

iCloud still not there, but looking to get this done still.

Our bank current has an interest rate to 2 decimal places (5.58% for example). Is it possible to give us te ability to set this as it really skews the figures with only 1 decimal place. Great app by the way!

Wow. Shows how limited my knowledge is on banks. I’ll make that in the next release. Aiming to get it to apple by end of the week. Thanks for the kind words.

Another thought: we have a variable home loan, which means the interest rate can change over the life of the loan. It would be nice to enter this in as well (just like the extra payments)

Phil, this app has been updated to do this. Sorry for the long long long delay.

Hi, I would like to use a higher interest, at least 11%. Thanks

    • vallardb

I’ll put in the ability to do this.

    • vallardb

App has been updated for you to do this! Please get the free update!

I bought app today. Every time I try to add my loan, the app keeps shutting down!

    • vallardb

Yikes! I haven’t seen that happen. What version of iOS are you running? I need to update the app with all the feature requests I’ve been getting. Are you using iPhone or iPad? Thanks!

    • vallardb

Updated the app on the iTunes store. Its available now. Please let me know if you still have problems.
